'''''Nycticeinops''''' is a genus of vesper bat in the family Vespertilionidae.<ref>{{MSW3|id=13801921}}</ref> It contains the following species:<ref name=":0">{{Cite journal|last=Monadjem|first=Ara|last2=Demos|first2=Terrence C|last3=Dalton|first3=Desire L|last4=Webala|first4=Paul W|last5=Musila|first5=Simon|last6=Kerbis Peterhans|first6=Julian C|last7=Patterson|first7=Bruce D|date=2021-04-01|title=A revision of pipistrelle-like bats (Mammalia: Chiroptera: Vespertilionidae) in East Africa with the description of new genera and species|url=https://doi.org/10.1093/zoolinnean/zlaa087|journal=Zoological Journal of the Linnean Society|volume=191|issue=4|pages=1114–1146|doi=10.1093/zoolinnean/zlaa087|issn=0024-4082|hdl=2263/84301|hdl-access=free|url-access=subscription}}</ref><ref name=":1">{{Citation|last=Database|first=Mammal Diversity|title=Mammal Diversity Database|date=2021-08-10|url=https://zenodo.org/record/5175993|publisher=Zenodo|access-date=2021-09-25}}</ref>
* Bellier's serotine, ''Nycticeinops bellieri'' * Broad-headed serotine, ''Nycticeinops crassulus'' * Eisentraut's serotine, ''Nycticeinops eisentrauti'' * Grandidier's serotine, ''Nycticeinops grandidieri'' * Happolds's serotine, ''Nycticeinops happoldorum'' * Large-headed serotine, ''Nycticeinops macrocephalus'' * Schlieffen's serotine, ''Nycticeinops schlieffeni''
Formerly, the only species placed in this genus was Schlieffen's serotine (''N. schlieffeni''), but phylogenetic evidence has placed several other species in this genus. These species were formerly classified in either ''Pipistrellus'', ''Neoromicia'', or ''Hypsugo'' until being reclassified into the new genus ''Parahypsugo'' in 2019. In a 2020 study, ''Nycticeinops'' was found to contain ''Parahypsugo'', and thus both were synonymized.<ref name=":0" /><ref name=":1" />
The fossil species of ''Nycticeinops serengetiensis'' and ''Nycticeinops kutchensis'' are also known.<ref name=":2">{{Cite journal |last=Carolin |first=Nora |last2=Mandal |first2=Nivedita |last3=Maurya |first3=Abhayanand Singh |last4=Bajpai |first4=Sunil |date=2026-02-12 |title=First Neogene bat from India: implications for a possible radiation of Vespertilioninae during the Middle Miocene Climatic Optimum |url=https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/02724634.2025.2611988 |journal=Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology |language=en |doi=10.1080/02724634.2025.2611988 |issn=0272-4634|url-access=subscription }}</ref><ref>{{Cite journal |last=Gunnell |first=Gregg F. |last2=Butler |first2=Percy M. |last3=Greenwood |first3=Marjorie |last4=Simmons |first4=Nancy B. |date=2015-12-16 |title=Bats (Chiroptera) from Olduvai Gorge, Early Pleistocene, Bed I (Tanzania) |url=http://www.bioone.org/doi/10.1206/3846.1 |journal=American Museum Novitates |language=en |volume=3846 |issue=3846 |pages=1–36 |doi=10.1206/3846.1 |issn=0003-0082}}</ref> ''N. kutchensis'' known from c. 11 Ma of Kutch in Gujarat (India) is the oldest record for this modern genus.<ref name=":2" />
