Pannerden was a separate municipality from 1818 to 1985, when it became a part of the new municipality of Rijnwaarden.<ref>{{Repertorium Nederlandse Gemeenten}}</ref>
== History == The village was first mentioned between 1052 and 1056 as Pannardum. In 1817, Pannerden became part of the Netherlands. In 1840, it was home to 507 people. In 1860, the postal authorities split the village in Pannerden (Oostzijde) and Pannerden (Westzijde) because it was cut in two by the canal.
