==History== Oxnard High School was established in 1902 as the first public high school in the city of Oxnard (the private Santa Clara High School opened the year before). The original campus, a {{nowrap|{{convert|35|acre|ha|adj=on}}}} site on Fifth Street west of downtown,<ref name="VCR 2008-10-09">{{cite news |url=https://vcreporter.com/2008/10/this-used-to-be-my-playground/ |title=This used to be my playground |newspaper=VCReporter |date=October 9, 2008 |access-date=February 22, 2021 }}</ref><ref>{{gnis|250792|Oxnard High School (site of old campus)}}</ref> served all of the Oxnard Plain and the Conejo Valley until 1956 when Adolfo Camarillo High School opened. However, the school eventually stood in the flight path of Oxnard Airport, which opened in 1934 and presented a safety hazard.<ref>{{cite news |url=https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1991-11-14-me-1743-story.html |title=Residents Criticize Moving School : Oxnard: Opponents cite many problems, including loss of farmland. While some of the old school buildings remained intact, including a gymnasium used by the Police Activities League, most of the campus was demolished in 2008.<ref name="VCR 2008-10-09" />
On March 16, 2020 due to fears of spreading COVID-19, the school closed down their campus.<ref>{{Cite news|last=Leung|first=Wendy|title=All Ventura County schools will close at least one week due to coronavirus|url=https://www.vcstar.com/story/news/local/2020/03/12/ojai-school-district-svusd-school-closures-ventura-county-coronavirus/5039591002/|access-date=2021-04-24|newspaper=Ventura County Star|language=en-US}}</ref> Virtual learning was established as a safer alternative for students to attend classes.
