It is a part of the municipality of Borsele, and lies about 19&nbsp;km southeast of Middelburg.

== History == The village was first mentioned in 1312 as "in Badickendorpe ende in Oudelant aen die zuudtzyde", and means "old land", because it was not flooded in 1014.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://etymologiebank.nl/trefwoord/oudelande |title=Oudelande - (geografische naam) |website=Etymologiebank |access-date=19 April 2022 |language=nl}}</ref> Oudelande is a church village which developed on a ridge which was elevated to a ''terp'' (artificial living hill) in the 13th century. The Dutch Reformed church was originally dedicated to Saint Eligius. The large tower dates from the 14th century. In 1769, a part of the church was demolished and rebuilt.<ref name="monument"/>

Oudelande was home to 547 people in 1840.<ref name="plaats">{{cite web|url=https://www.plaatsengids.nl/oudelande |title=Oudelande |website=Plaatsengids |access-date=19 April 2022 |language=nl}}</ref> In 1927, a railway station was built on the Goes to Hoedekenskerke railway line. The village was severely damaged during the North Sea flood of 1953.<ref name="monument"/> Oudelande was a separate municipality until 1970, when it was merged with Borsele.<ref>{{Repertorium Nederlandse Gemeenten}}</ref>
