In March 2014, the CQC published its report following an inspection of the trust. As well as identifying areas for improvement there were a number of positive findings. The trust was judged as good across all services for ‘caring’ and inspectors found that, in the main, the safety and effectiveness of services had been maintained, despite the overriding urgent care pressures.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.cqc.org.uk/media/chief-inspector-hospitals-publishes-his-findings-northampton-general-hospital-nhs-trust|title= Chief Inspector of Hospitals publishes his findings on the Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust|date=27 March 2014|publisher=Care Quality Commission|accessdate=28 August 2018}}</ref> In October 2019, the CQC published a report rating the hospital as "requires improvement" overall, with some areas "good".<ref> {{Cite web|url=https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/RNS01|publisher=Care Quality Commission|date= 24 October 2019|access-date=10 November 2022|title=Northampton General Hospital}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.cqc.org.uk/provider/RNS/reports|publisher=Care Quality Commission|date= 24 October 2019|access-date=28 August 2020|title=All inspections: Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust - Care Quality Commission }}</ref> In February 2023, the CQC published another inspection report that rated the hospital the same as previously.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/RNS01?referer=widget3|title=Northampton General Hospital|publisher=Care Quality Commission|access-date=11 October 2024}}</ref>
