==History== There were Winter Carnivals from 1940 to 1942. In 1942, 4,000 people attended. Until 2007, the village was unique for depending neither on the town constable nor the county sheriff for law enforcement but had a police force of its own. There were 221 households, out of which 23.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.2% were married couples living together, 31.2% had a female householder with no spouse present, and 10.0% had a male householder with no spouse present. 34.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 18.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.39.<ref name="North Troy, Vermont village profile"/>

In the village, the population was spread out, with 23.45% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median income for a household in the village was $55,486, and the median income for a family was $83,438. The per capita income for the village was $25,829.
