Starting from the late 1960s Machiavelli started appearing in more ambitious [[art film]]s, working with [[Hans-Jürgen Syberberg]], [[Pietro Germi]], [[Dino Risi]], [[Sergio Citti]], [[Andrzej Żuławski]], and [[Liliana Cavani]], among others.<ref name="bio"/>
