(''German: Nie wieder Deutschland'') was the political motto of the "radical left" (RL), with which this nationwide alliance positioned itself from November 1989 against German reunification and its feared consequences, against German antisemitism, racism, nationalism and fascism.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Wie alles anfing|url=https://jungle.world/artikel/2015/22/wie-alles-anfing|access-date=2021-03-09|website=jungle.world|language=de}}</ref>

The alliance was initiated in November 1989 by a group around the magazine konkret, eco-socialists and communist federation and supported by autonomous, anti-fascist activists and other left-wing groups. This reaction to the resurgence of German nationalism, neo-Nazism and historical revisionism. They warned of a "Fourth ''Reich''" and a renewed German imperialism or world power striving.<ref>{{Cite web|date=2007-10-05|title=neuer nationalismus / weltmacht deutschland {{!}} reader: 25 jahre gwr|url=http://www.graswurzel.net/25jahre/nationalismus.shtml|access-date=2021-03-09|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20071005115711/http://www.graswurzel.net/25jahre/nationalismus.shtml|archive-date=2007-10-05}}</ref>
