'''Nessma El Jadida''' ({{langx|ar|الجديدة نسمة}}, translation: New Breeze), formerly known as '''Nessma TV''' ({{langx|ar|قناة نسمة}}, translation: "Breeze TV") and '''Nessma Rouge''' ({{langx|ar|نسمة روج}}, translation: Red Breeze) was a commercial TV channel based in Tunisia, targeting Tunisia and the Maghreb countries. It was 25% formerly owned by the Italian company Mediaset, controlled by Silvio Berlusconi.
All programmes broadcast on this channel had subtitles in French or Maghrebi Arabic. It broadcast such programs as the Maghrebi version of ''Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?'', called ''Man sa yarbah al malyoon''.
==History== The TV channel was launched on 16 March 2007, by Nabil and Ghazi Karoui, in partnership with Berlusconi and Tarak Ben Ammar.<ref>{{Cite news|url=https://variety.com/2010/film/markets-festivals/nessma-tv-programs-for-change-1118018962/|title=Nessma TV programs for change|last=Vivarelli|first=Nick|date=2010-05-07|work=Variety|access-date=2017-12-27|language=en-US}}</ref> It was created as a subsidiary of Karoui & Karoui World Group.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapid=45085858|title=Nessma TV: Private Company Information - Bloomberg|website=www.bloomberg.com|access-date=2017-12-27}}</ref>
In January 2017, Nessma Live was launched.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Nessma Live : 730 milles télé-auditeurs en trois mois |url=https://www.tekiano.com/2017/04/13/nessma-live-730-milles-tele-auditeurs-en-trois-mois/ |website=tekiano}}</ref> On October 4, Nessma Sport, a streaming channel dedicated to sports, was launched on the Internet.<ref>{{Cite web |title=Nessma lance un nouveau site entièrement dédié au sport |url=https://www.espacemanager.com/nessma-lance-un-nouveau-site-entierement-dedie-au-sport.html |website=espace manager}}</ref>
On 27 October 2021, the channel was ordered to shut down by Tunisia's broadcasting regulator, which said it was operating without a license. The channel's studios were also raided by Tunisian state security forces, and may have been politically motivated, as Nessma owner Nabil Karoui (the runner-up in the 2019 Tunisian presidential election) who has since been recently and frequently jailed is a rival of President Kais Saied. The seizure was also sudden as the network had been unlicensed for years, but no action had previously been taken.<ref>{{Cite web|date=27 October 2021|title=Tunisia's media regulator shuts down Nessma TV and al-Quran al-Kareem radio station over licensing issues|url=https://cpj.org/2021/10/tunisias-media-regulator-shuts-down-nessma-tv-and-al-quran-al-kareem-radio-station-over-licensing-issues/|access-date=29 October 2021|website=Committee to Protect Journalists|language=en-US}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|last=|first=|date=27 October 2021|title=Tunisia closes TV station of president's political rival|url=https://www.dw.com/en/tunisia-closes-tv-station-of-presidents-political-rival/a-59641816|access-date=29 October 2021|website=Deutsche Welle|language=en-GB}}</ref>
The channel was granted a temporary license by HAICA to reoperate on 8 March 2022 after a negotiation between the representatives of the channel and the president of HAICA on 15 February 2022.<ref>{{Cite web |date=8 March 2022 |title=Plus d'écran noir pour Nessma TV en vertu d'une autorisation temporaire de diffusion de la Haica |url=https://africanmanager.com/plus-decran-noir-pour-nessma-tv-en-vertu-dune-autorisation-temporaire-de-diffusion-de-la-haica/ |access-date=9 March 2022 |website=African Manager |language=fr-FR}}</ref>
The channel was officially relaunched on 11 March 2022. The channel is now owned by the new managing director Zied Riba under his company '''Maghreb Broadcast'''. The channel's name was also changed to '''Nessma El Jadida''' or '''New Nessma''' ({{langx|ar|الجديدة نسمة}}, translation: "New Breeze"). <ref>{{Cite web |date=14 March 2022 |title=Nessma TV powraca pod inną nazwą|url=https://satkurier.pl/news/215178/nessma-tv-powraca-pod-inna-nazwa.html|access-date=15 March 2022|website=satkurier.pl|language=pl-PL}}</ref> The channel became available on the Iraqi satellite ShababSat on DMN.
