== Biography ==

He was born in London, England, and his original name was Morris Perlman.<ref name=JTA /> His father was born in Minsk, his mother was born in England by an immigrant family who came from Poland.{{cn|date=December 2025}}

He studied at the London School of Economics,<ref name=JTA /> and was a student of Harold Laski.

He first worked in the 1930s as a journalist, where he was editor of the ''Zionist Review''.<ref name=JTA /> In 1936, he emigrated to Israel, and lived in a kibbutz for a year.<ref name=JTA />

He joined the Army of the newly founded state. From 1948 to 1952 he was the first Israeli military spokesman.<ref name=JTA /><ref name=NYT>{{cite news|url=https://www.nytimes.com/1967/06/12/archives/voice-of-israeli-army-moshe-pearlman.html|title=Voice of Israeli Army; Moshe Pearlman|date=June 12, 1967|access-date=December 11, 2025}}</ref>
