==Biography== Trofi was said to have been born in Viterbo in the late 1480s, but it is unclear with whom he trained. The obvious cited master is Antonio del Massaro (ca. 1450–1516), the main local artist of the prior generation. His style sometimes resembles Luca Signorelli. He is documented in 1504 in association with works at the Corneto Cathedral with the two painters above and Constantino di Jacopo di Zello.<ref>[https://books.google.com/books?id=GGZIAAAAYAAJ Archivio della Reale Società romana di storia patria], Volume 24, page 525, review of ''Antonio da Viterbo. Most of his output, signed or attributed, are sacred paintings. He is said to have painted a ''Nativity'' for a church in Canino<ref>L'Osservatore Romano, article by Antonio Paolucci, 28-01-2015 on an ''All'ombra del Campanile'' about an exhibit about the cult of the Virgin in Viterbo.</ref> He also painted an ''Enthroned Madonna and Child between St John Evangelist, St Francis of Assisi, St Jerome and St John the Baptist'' for the church of San Francesco in Canino.<ref>[http://catalogo.fondazionezeri.unibo.it/scheda.jsp?decorator=layout_resp&apply=true&tipo_scheda=OA&id=29598&titolo=Trofi%20Monaldo%20,%20Madonna%20con%20Bambino%20in%20trono%20tra%20san%20Giovanni%20Evangelista,%20san%20Francesco%20d'Assisi,%20san%20Girolamo%20e%20san%20Giovanni%20Battista Fondazione Zeri], catalogue of works.</ref> The Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore has two tablets depicting St Anthony Abbot and St Sebastian, attributed to Trofi, and dated circa 1505.<ref>[http://art.thewalters.org/browse/creator/monaldo-trofi/ The Walters Art Gallery], catalogue.</ref> He painted a ''Deposition'' located in the Museo Nazionale of Tarquinia dated 1507.
