Mohammed Nasir (born c.1986), is a former international boxer who won a bronze medal for Wales at the Commonwealth Games.
Biography
Nasir was born in Yemen, emigrated to Wales[2] and attended Duffryn High School.[1] He fought out of the St Joseph's Amateur Boxing Club in Newport[3] and won the 2001 Welsh Schoolboys title[4] boxing at light-flyweight.[5]
He represented Wales at the Four Nations Championships[6] and was a three-time champion of Wales at light-flyweight in 2004, 2005 and 2007.[7]
Nasir represented the 2006 Welsh team at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia,[8] where he competed in the light-flyweight division. He won the bronze medal[9] after beating Peter Mungai Warui of Kenya, Manyo Plange of Ghana and Muhammad Nisar of Pakistan before losing to Darren Langley of England in the semi-final bout.[10]
