==Playing career== ===Walsall=== Candlin made his Walsall debut as an 84th minute substitute for Adam Chambers in a 1–0 defeat to Bradford City at Valley Parade on 1 April 2017<ref>{{cite news|title=Bradford City 1-0 Walsall|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39389267|access-date=22 April 2017|work=BBC Sport|date=1 April 2017}}</ref> and made four further appearances as a sixteen-year-old before the end of the season.<ref name="16/17 appearances"/>
