'''Milton Ross Dube''' is a Nauruan politician.
He took part in the June 2010 parliamentary election, and came first in the Aiwo Constituency,<ref>[http://www.naurugov.nr/parliament/files/June%202010%20election%20results.pdf Official results of the June 2010 election] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20130122014443/http://www.naurugov.nr/parliament/files/June%202010%20election%20results.pdf |date=22 January 2013 }}, Government of Nauru</ref> unseating Opposition MP Dantes Tsitsi.<ref name="rnzi.com">{{cite news |url=http://www.rnzi.com/pages/news.php?op=read&id=54271 |title=Both groups in Nauru Parliament vie for support of single new MP |date=21 June 2010 |work=Radio New Zealand International |accessdate=25 October 2011}}</ref> It was Dube's first term in Parliament,<ref name="Nauru: élections du 19 juin 2010">[http://www.ipu.org/parline-f/reports/1227_E.htm Nauru: élections du 19 juin 2010], Union interparlementaire</ref> and he was the sole new MP elected to Parliament, his 17 fellow MPs all being re-elected incumbents.<ref name="rnzi.com"/>
There are no political parties in Nauru, but nine MPs were aligned with president Marcus Stephen's incumbent government, while eight were members of the Opposition. Dube had stood as an independent, campaigning on issues of interest to the citizens of his constituency. In particular, he drew attention to the phosphate dust and other environmental issues resulting from the phosphate drying industry in Aiwo. Needing Dube's support to obtain an absolute majority in Parliament, the Stephen government promised to relocate the industry, and to examine the possibility of using new technologies to minimise the emission of phosphate dust during the drying process.<ref name="Nauru: élections du 19 juin 2010"/> Dube, however, remained independent, remaining unaligned and stating that he would offer his support to either side whenever they put forward policies benefiting his constituents.<ref>[http://australianetworknews.com/stories/201006/2933893.htm "No end in sight for Nauru deadlock"] {{Webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110707192106/http://australianetworknews.com/stories/201006/2933893.htm |date=7 July 2011 }}, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, 22 June 2010</ref>
Eventually, Dube stood for the presidency in a parliamentary secret ballot in November. He was defeated by the incumbent, Marcus Stephen, who was elected with eleven votes to Dube's six.<ref name="RNZI_56730">{{cite news |url=http://www.rnzi.com/pages/news.php?op=read&id=56730 |title=Nauru deadlock ends as Scotty accepts speaker's position |date=1 November 2010 |work=Radio New Zealand International |accessdate=25 October 2011}}</ref>
