Edson was educated at the [[University of Birmingham]] and the [[College of the Resurrection|College of the Resurrection, Mirfield]]. He was [[Vicar]] of [[Roxbourne]] from 1982 to 1989; and [[Rural Dean|Area Dean]] of [[Harrow, London|Harrow]] from 1985 to 1989. He was [[Warden (college)|Warden]] of [[Lee Abbey]] from 1989 to 1994 before his time as [[Archdeacon of Leicester]]; and [[Rector (ecclesiastical)|Rector]] of [[Torridge District|Torridge]] afterwards.
