==Playing career== As a youth, Paliotta played in the 2006 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the New York Rangers minor ice hockey team.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.publicationsports.com/ressources/files/439/Joueurs_Pro.pdf|title=Pee-Wee players who have reached NHL or WHA|year=2018|website=Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament|access-date=2019-01-06|archive-date=March 6, 2019|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190306085544/https://www.publicationsports.com/ressources/files/439/Joueurs_Pro.pdf|url-status=dead}}</ref> [[File:Vermont Goal Celebration (13159233645).jpg|thumb|right|Pallota (center) with Vermont in 2014]] On March 26, 2015, the Chicago Blackhawks signed Paliotta to two-year contract,<ref>{{cite web|url=http://blackhawks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=759995 |title=Blackhawks agree to terms with Michael Paliotta – Chicago Blackhawks – News |publisher=Blackhawks.nhl.com |date=2015-03-26 |accessdate=2015-06-04}}</ref> and on April 11, 2015, he made his NHL debut skating against the Colorado Avalanche in the Blackhawks' final game of the 2014–15 regular season.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.csnchicago.com/blackhawks/blackhawks-paliotta-debuts-darling-starting-vs-avs |title=Blackhawks: Paliotta debuts, Darling starting vs. Avs |publisher=Csnchicago.com |date=2015-04-11 |accessdate=2015-06-04}}</ref> Paliotta was among the Blackhawks training squad during the playoffs, in which the Blackhawks claimed their third championship in six years.

His tenure with Chicago was short-lived as on June 30, 2015, he was included in the trade of Brandon Saad to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Jeremy Morin, Marko Dano, Artem Anisimov, Corey Tropp and a fourth-round draft pick in 2016.<ref>{{cite news|last=Peters|first=Chris|title=Blackhawks trade Brandon Saad to Blue Jackets in 7-player deal|url=http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/25229473/report-blackhawks-trade-brandon-saad-to-blue-jackets|accessdate=June 30, 2015|website=CBS Sports|date=June 30, 2015}}</ref>

After one season with the Blue Jackets and having completed his entry-level contract, Paliotta was not tendered a qualifying offer to remain with the club.
