Morgan was educated at Jesus College, Oxford.<ref>[https://www.british-history.ac.uk/alumni-oxon/1500-1714/pp1026-1049 Alumni Oxonienses 1500-1714, Mordaunt-Mytton]</ref> He held Livings at Compton Beauchamp and Llanwrthwl. He was appointed Archdeacon of Carmarthen in 1583, a post he held until his death on 4 December 1612.
