Outside Wales, he was probably best known for portraying DC Jones, DS Chisholm's put-upon detective constable in the popular series ''[[Minder (TV series)|Minder]]''. Originally from [[Nant Gwynant]], near [[Beddgelert]] in [[Gwynedd]], Povey lived in [[Cardiff]] for many years.
