==Biography== Max Solling was born the second child and only son of Jessie (née Webb) (1917–2017) and Rex Erie Solling (1909–1980). His father was an accountant, and then later a bank manager, with the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney from 1926 until retirement in 1972. Three generations of bankers] Retrieved 12 April 2022.</ref> For his senior education Solling was educated at Newington College (1955–1959)<ref>Newington College Register of Past Students 1863-1998 (Syd, 1999) pp 185</ref> and then at the University of Sydney where he was awarded a University Sporting Blue in boxing and was Australian Universities boxing champion.
