Mattock River

Its source is near [[Collon]] ({{coord|53.775|-6.495}}), from where it flows through County Louth towards the southeast until a place west of [[Drummond Tower]] in [[Coolfore]] where it begins to form the boundary between Counties [[County Meath|Meath]] and [[County Louth|Louth]].<ref>{{Cite book |last=Joyce |first=Patrick Weston |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=P_81AQAAMAAJ&q=%22Mattock+River%22 |title=Atlas and History of Ireland: A Comprehensive Description of Each County |date=1898 |publisher=Murphy & McCarthy |language=en}}</ref> Here it turns towards the southwest until [[Monknewtown]] where it takes a southeastern direction again before turning roughly east at [[Dowth, County Meath|Dowth]].
