It comprises the town of [[Mariental, Namibia|Mariental]] and the surrounding area, covering an area of {{Convert|5,915|sqkm|abbr=on}}. ==Politics== Mariental is traditionally a stronghold of the [[South West Africa People's Organization]] (SWAPO) party.
