'''Marcus Pedersen''' (born 8 June 1990) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a forward for Norwegian Fourth Division club Løten.
==Club career==
=== HamKam === Pedersen was born in Hamar, Norway. He grew up in the nearby Stange Municipality, where he played youth football until he joined HamKam at age 11.<ref name=db_2006>{{cite web|last1=Andresen|first1=Gorm S.|title=10. klassingen som skal til Liverpool|url=http://www.dagbladet.no/sport/2006/04/04/462776.html|access-date=13 August 2015|language=no|date=4 April 2006|quote="Han kom fra Stange som 11-åring (...)"}}</ref>
He played in his first senior match for HamKam at the age of 14, in a friendly game. In the spring of 2006, he was invited to a trial with Liverpool,<ref name=db_2006/><ref name=dt_20100515/> but failed to impress, which Pedersen later attributed to an attack of mononucleosis that was identified after he returned home.<ref name=dt_20100515>{{cite web|last1=Melby|first1=Olav|title=Jaktbikkja|url=http://www.dt.no/godset/godset/jaktbikkja/s/2-2.1748-1.5255674|publisher=Drammens Tidende|access-date=13 August 2015|language=no|date=15 May 2010|quote=Han trente med A-laget til Ham Kam som 14-åring. Kyssesyken herjet i kroppen hans.}}</ref>
In 2007, he was part of the HamKam squad that was promoted to Tippeligaen. He made his debut for HamKam against Skeid on 9 April 2007 and featured in three other matches that season.<ref name=aof_131723 /> He made his Tippeliga debut, and scored his first professional goal in the 2–1 victory against Rosenborg on 9 July 2008, making him the match winner.<ref name=TL_debut_report>{{cite web|last1=Synstad|first1=Roger|title=18 år og iskald|url=http://www.h-a.no/sport/ham-kam/--18-aar-og-iskald|publisher=Hamar Arbeiderblad|access-date=13 August 2015|language=no|date=10 July 2008|trans-title=18 years old and ice cold|archive-date=4 March 2016|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160304061210/http://www.h-a.no/sport/ham-kam/--18-aar-og-iskald|url-status=dead}}</ref> Injuries prevented him from getting more than five games in his second senior season.
=== Strømsgodset === On 1 January 2009 Pedersen signed for Strømsgodset on a free transfer, after his contract with HamKam ended.<ref name=ostlendingen_20081015>{{cite web|last1=Sandberg|first1=Tore|title=Pedersen blir Godset-spiller|url=http://www.ostlendingen.no/sport/pedersen-blir-godset-spiller/s/2-2.2757-1.4605608|access-date=14 August 2015|date=15 October 2008}}</ref> He cited the need for a change in surroundings as part of why he signed for a new club.<ref name=ostlendingen_20081015 /> He played his first match in Tippeligaen for Strømsgodset on 15 March 2009 against Start. The match ended 3–3 with Pedersen scoring two of the goals.<ref name=aof_match_report_136440>{{cite web|title=Strømsgodset 3-3 Start|url=http://www.altomfotball.no/element.do?cmd=match&matchId=136440|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151120215502/http://www.altomfotball.no/element.do?cmd=match&matchId=136440|url-status=dead|archive-date=20 November 2015|website=Altomfotball.no|date=15 March 2009|access-date=14 August 2015}}</ref> He scored another two goals on 2 June 2009 in a 2–1 victory against Brann.<ref name=aof_match_report_136529>{{cite web|title=Strømsgodset 2-1 Brann|url=http://www.altomfotball.no/element.do?cmd=match&matchId=136529|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20151120205449/http://www.altomfotball.no/element.do?cmd=match&matchId=136529|url-status=dead|archive-date=20 November 2015|website=Altomfotball.no|date=2 June 2009|access-date=14 August 2015}}</ref> Altogether, he scored 10 goals in 24 matches in the 2009 season, making him the top goal scorer for his club that year.<ref name=aof_131723 />
The 2010 season started very well for Pedersen. Playing alongside another young talent, Jo Inge Berget helped Pedersen to score seven goals in 16 matches in 2010,<ref name=aof_131723 /> and was second on the top-scorer list in Tippeligaen. He suffered an injury during a game a few weeks before the transfer-windows closed, and a transfer seemed unlikely, until Vitesse showed concrete interest in him.
=== Vitesse === On 30 August 2010, he was sold from Strømsgodset to Vitesse Arnhem for about 12 million NOK, and signed a 4-year contract with the club.<ref name=vg_20100831>{{cite web|title=Pedersen solgt til Vitesse for 12 mill.|url=http://www.vg.no/sport/fotball/stroemsgodset/pedersen-solgt-til-vitesse-for-12-mill/a/10026918/|publisher=Verdens Gang|access-date=14 August 2015|language=no|date=31 August 2010}}</ref> Only six weeks later, Vitesse manager Theo Bos was sacked,<ref>{{cite web|title=Vitesse Sack Head Coach Theo Bos|url=http://www.goal.com/en/news/462/netherlands/2010/10/21/2176513/vitesse-sack-head-coach-theo-bos|access-date=14 August 2015|date=21 October 2010}}</ref> and was replaced by Albert Ferrer. Pedersen made his debut for the club on 24 October 2010, in the 4–1 defeat against Utrect. He scored his first goal only two minutes after coming on as a substitute.<ref name=aof_131723 /> In the next match, on 14 November 2010, he scored two goals for Vitesse in a 5–1 victory over Venlo. He played a total of 16 league matches and scored five goals for the club in his first season, but featured only five times in the starting lineup.<ref name=aof_131723 /> Vitesse barely avoided relegation in the 2010–11 Eredivisie and manager Albert Ferrer was replaced by John van den Brom. The new manager did not give Pedersen many chances in the 2011–12 Eredivisie. While Vitesse secured a UEFA Europa League, Pedersen only played four matches from the start and came on as a substitute five times. He failed to score any goals.<ref name=aof_131723 />
=== Vålerenga === Having struggled with various injuries, Pedersen found it difficult to hold down a spot in Vitesse's starting eleven. He was subsequently sent on loan to Norwegian club Vålerenga on 22 February 2012, and managed 8 goals in 15 league appearances until the loan-deal ended on 1 August.<ref name=aof_131723 /> On 21 August 2012, he was fined by the Football Association of Norway for making homophobic remarks towards Stabæk supporters 22 July 2012.<ref>{{cite web |author=martin k. andersen |url=http://fotball.aftenposten.no/eliteserien/article247566.ece |title=Pedersen fikk bot for obskøn gest – Aftenposten |publisher=Fotball.aftenposten.no |url-status=dead |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20120824202055/http://fotball.aftenposten.no/eliteserien/article247566.ece |archive-date=24 August 2012}}</ref>
=== Odense === On 31 August 2012, Pedersen was loaned out to Odense Boldklub on a season-long loan deal, with OB having an option to buy. He made his debut against F.C. Copenhagen on 2 September 2012.
=== Barnsley === On 21 August 2013, Pedersen joined English Championship club Barnsley on a season-long loan.
=== Brann === On 11 August 2014, Pedersen was sold to Brann for an undisclosed sum, partly financed by investor Trond Mohn.<ref name=marcus_bt>{{cite web|title=Marcus Pedersen til Brann|url=http://www.bt.no/100Sport/fotball/eliteserien/Marcus-Pedersen-til-Brann-455839_1.snd|publisher=Bergens Tidene|access-date=11 August 2014|language=no|date=11 August 2014|archive-date=23 September 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150923195054/http://www.bt.no/100Sport/fotball/eliteserien/Marcus-Pedersen-til-Brann-455839_1.snd|url-status=dead}}</ref><ref name=marcus_brann>{{cite web|title=Marcus Pedersen klar for Brann|url=http://www.brann.no/latest-news/article/1fk20jrb6pcqu1hoj6fz9dpch4/title/marcus-pedersen-klar-for-brann|publisher=SK Brann|access-date=11 August 2014|language=no|date=11 August 2014|archive-date=12 August 2014|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140812214006/http://www.brann.no/latest-news/article/1fk20jrb6pcqu1hoj6fz9dpch4/title/marcus-pedersen-klar-for-brann|url-status=dead}}</ref> He scored three goals in ten league matches for the club, but was unable to save them from relegation.<ref name=aof_131723/>
Pedersen had a gentleman's agreement with the former sports director of Brann, Roald Bruun-Hansen, that he would be sold if the club was relegated. However, the interim director Rune Soltvedt informed the striker that he was to be part of the club's plans to win promotion the next season.<ref name=aft_20141225>{{cite web|title=- Vi vil at Marcus Pedersen skyter oss tilbake til eliteserien|url=http://www.aftenposten.no/100Sport/fotball/forstediv/--Vi-vil-at-Marcus-Pedersen-skyter-oss-tilbake-til-eliteserien-481770_1.snd|access-date=13 August 2015|language=no|date=25 December 2014}}</ref> During pre-season, on 4 February 2015, Pedersen tore his posterior cruciate ligament,<ref name=pcl_2015>{{cite web|title=Langtidsskade for Marcus Pedersen|url=http://www.nrk.no/sport/langtidsskade-for-marcus-pedersen-1.12189648|publisher=NTB|access-date=13 August 2015|language=no|date=4 February 2015}}</ref> and was injured for over three months, not playing again until 26 May 2015.<ref name=aof_lev_skb>{{cite web|title=Match report, Levanger-Brann 4-1, 26 May 2015|url=http://www.altomfotball.no/element.do?cmd=match&matchId=765067|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160304041059/http://www.altomfotball.no/element.do?cmd=match&matchId=765067|url-status=dead|archive-date=4 March 2016|access-date=13 August 2015}}</ref> He then went on to score three goals in his final eight league matches for the club.<ref name=aof_131723 />
