He was born in Welkom and started playing for the local {{Rut|Griffons}} team. His career saw him play for several different unions, representing the {{Rut|Blue Bulls}}, {{Rut|Falcons}}, {{Rut|Golden Lions}}, {{Rut|Free State Cheetahs}} and {{Rut|Eastern Province Kings}}. He also played some Super Rugby for the {{Rut|Lions}} and {{Rut|Cheetahs}} franchises.
