'''''Loserthink: How Untrained Brains Are Ruining America''''' is a 2019 non-fiction book by Scott Adams,<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.newstatesman.com/failosophy-elizabeth-day-if-you-should-fail-joe-moran-review|title=Delusions of failure|website=www.newstatesman.com|date=18 November 2020}}</ref> creator of the ''Dilbert'' comic strip. Adams suggests that many otherwise intelligent people are trapped by unproductive ways of thinking which he terms as ''loserthink''. The reason for this, he says, is they do not have experience across multiple domains and thus are not equipped to think more productively.

''Loserthink'' introduces readers to the most useful thought patterns in a variety of disciplines. Adams wants to help employees identify mental barriers and how to break through them, as well as escape from their own "mental prisons".<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.shrm.org/hr-today/news/hr-magazine/winter2019/pages/meet-scott-adams-the-man-behind-dilbert.aspx|title=Meet Scott Adams—the Man Behind Dilbert|first1=David|last1=Ward|date=November 25, 2019|website=SHRM}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.woodworkingnetwork.com/news/woodworking-industry-news/review-loserthink-scott-adams|title=Book review: Loserthink by Scott Adams|date=November 15, 2019|website=Woodworking Network}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web|url=https://fs.blog/knowledge-project/scott-adams/|title=Scott Adams: Avoiding Loserthink|website=Farnam Street}}</ref>

Adams suggested two ideas for a calmer Internet, namely the "48-hour rule", where everyone should be given a grace period of a couple of days to retract any controversial statement they have made, and the "20-year rule", where everyone should be automatically forgiven for any mistakes they made more than two decades ago, with the exception of certain serious crimes.<ref>{{Cite magazine|url=https://www.wired.com/2019/11/geeks-guide-scott-adams/|title=Scott Adams Has Some Ideas for a Calmer Internet|first=Geek's Guide to the|last=Galaxy|magazine=Wired|date=November 30, 2019|via=www.wired.com}}</ref>
