==Toponymy== Lancieux derives its name from the Breton ''lann'' ("hermitage") and ''Seoc'', ''Cieux'', or ''Sieu'', a monk who came from British [[Cornwall]] at the end of the 6th century AD; therefore it can be translated as "the hermitage of Seoc".
