==History== The lake, from which the village derives its name, is an oxbow lake near the Chippewa River between Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls. Here, in 1843, the McCann brothers joined with Jeremiah C. In an open effort to prevent further annexation and utility encroachment by the cities of Chippewa Falls from the northeast and Eau Claire from the southwest, the village was incorporated by referendum from a large portion of the town of Hallie on February 28, 2003. The population density was {{convert|457.6|PD/sqmi|PD/km2|1}}. There were 2,554 housing units at an average density of {{convert|181.3|/sqmi|/km2|1}}. The racial makeup of the village was 94.3% White, 0.6% African American, 0.6% Native American, 2.4% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.7% of the population.
There were 2,447 households, of which 36.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.2% were married couples living together, 10.1% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.6% had a male householder with no wife present, and 27.2% were non-families. 20.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.62 and the average family size was 3.01.
The median age in the village was 35.3 years. 26.1% of residents were under the age of 18; 8% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 29.1% were from 25 to 44; 26.6% were from 45 to 64; and 10.1% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 50.6% male and 49.4% female.

Tom Sippel Field is the home field for the Hallie Eagles, a baseball team in the Chippewa River Baseball League.
