It has a structural volume of {{Convert|560000|m3|cuyd|0|abbr=on}} and its crest lies at an elevation of {{Convert|618.5|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} above sea level. The dam's [[spillway]] consists of four {{Convert|18|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} wide and {{Convert|16|m|ft|0|abbr=on}} tall [[radial gate]]s. When the reservoir is at flood level, the spillway has a discharge capacity of {{Convert|13240|m3/s|ft3/s|0|abbr=on}}. Receiving water from [[Tehri Dam]] and collecting it from an overall {{Convert|7691|km2|sqmi|0|abbr=on}} [[drainage basin|catchment area]], the dam creates a [[reservoir]] with a {{Convert|88900000|m3|acre.ft|0|abbr=on}} capacity, of which {{Convert|35000000|m3|acre.ft|0|abbr=on}} is active (or "useful").
