== Early life == Mora was born in Hollywood, the youngest of two siblings.<ref>Sister: Katherine Anne Williams (b. 1955 – d. 2008)</ref> His father, Oscar Mora, is a native of Costa Rica, Central America. His mother, Betty Paulina Wood y Meza, was also a native of Costa Rica, and emigrated to the United States in 1957. His parents met in Los Angeles. The couple were married in April 1959 and were divorced in September 1961.

An avid comic book fan since childhood, when his father bought him ''How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way,''<ref>Marvel Fireside Books: How-To division, pub. 1977</ref> Mora began his relationship with art and storytelling.

== Education and early career == After graduating from North High School (Torrance) in 1979, Mora studied variously at El Camino College, worked a variety of jobs, often two at once, and later continued his studies at DeVry University, Santa Monica College, and various private non-accredited learning institutions.

In 1984, with the release of the Apple Macintosh personal computer, Mora began his parallel development of computer and artistic skills. After receiving a layoff from Hughes Spacecraft, in El Segundo, CA, he work freelance with his graphic designer with MacTemps (now Aquent) and was ultimately hired away to the post of Art Director at The Verity Group, a management consulting firm in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles.

In 1995 Mora returned to Santa Monica College to major in Art and Art History, and under the advisement of artist/professor Ronn Davis, transfer to University of Southern California (USC Roski School of Fine Arts) in 1997. At USC he earned his BFA, graduating with distinction with the class of 1999, where he shared speaking honors at the commencement ceremony during the tenure of then dean, Ruth Weisberg.

By the time rights to ''A Light Before The Darkness'' reverted to him, he had completed his second and third screenplays, ''Magnum Farce,'' and ''Ms. Valkyrie.'' After several near-misses with production of Magnum Farce, he established his own sole-proprietorship production company Bella Fe Films in 2008, to produce the short film adaptation ''Magnum Farce: A Shot in the Park'' which garnered top accolades at film festivals.<ref>Best Short Animation: The Indie Gathering Intl Film Festival, 2009</ref><ref>{{Cite web |url=http://aoffest.com/pdf/2009AOFFilmWinners.pdf/ |title=Best Spoof: Action On Film International Film Festival, 2009 |access-date=July 26, 2011 |archive-date=July 7, 2011 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110707151925/http://aoffest.com/pdf/2009AOFFilmWinners.pdf |url-status=dead }}</ref><ref>{{usurped|1=[https://web.archive.org/web/20120316021652/http://www.eworldwire.com/pressrelease/211209 Best Animation, Audience Choice: Cinema City International Film Festival, 2009]}}</ref><ref>[http://www.honolulufilmawards.com/General/PastWinners/2010SilverLeiAwards/tabid/404/Default.aspx/ Silver Leigh Award: Honolulu Intl Film Festival, 2010] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110712215801/http://honolulufilmawards.com/General/PastWinners/2010SilverLeiAwards/tabid/404/Default.aspx |date=July 12, 2011 }}</ref><ref>[http://www.canadafilmfestival.com/Festival/PastWinners/2010/2010RisingStarAwards/tabid/443/Default.aspx/ Rising Star Award: Canada Intl Film Festival, 2010] {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20110709194802/http://www.canadafilmfestival.com/Festival/PastWinners/2010/2010RisingStarAwards/tabid/443/Default.aspx |date=July 9, 2011 }}</ref>
