==History== Kalanit was established in 1981 on the land of the depopulated Palestinian village of Al-Mansura, southeast of the village site.<ref>{{cite book|title=All That Remains: The Palestinian Villages Occupied and Depopulated by Israel in 1948|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=_By7AAAAIAAJ |first=W.|last=Khalidi|author-link=Walid Khalidi|year=1992|location=Washington D.C.|publisher=Institute for Palestine Studies|isbn=0-88728-224-5|page=533}}</ref>
The village was established as a moshav by the Hapoel HaMizrachi organization with the goal that it would be populated by the children of the families living in the area, and so with time the ''moshav'' became a community settlement.{{Citation needed|date=August 2018}}
The community takes its name from a flower endemic to Israel, called in Modern Hebrew ''kalanit'' (Anemone coronaria).<ref>Hareuveni, Imanuel (2010). ''[https://kotar.cet.ac.il/KotarApp/Viewer.aspx?nBookID=93576566#480.9948.6.default Eretz Israel Lexicon]'' (in Hebrew). Matach. p. 480.</ref>
