==History== [[File:Frankel at York, 2013.jpg|thumb|right|Frankel in 2012 at York Racecourse]] Abdullah's participation in horse racing began as an owner in the late 1970s. Having bought his first yearlings in 1977, he secured his first win in May 1979 at Windsor.<ref name=trc1>{{cite web|url=https://www.thoroughbredracing.com/articles/4859/prince-golden-touch/|title=The Prince with the golden touch|date=20 December 2020|work=Thoroughbred Racing Commentary}}</ref><ref name=sl>{{cite web|url=https://www.sportinglife.com/racing/news/true-giant-of-the-turf/188269|title=Prince Khalid Abdullah: Cornelius Lysaght tribute|date=13 January 2021}}</ref> His first success in a British Classic Race came in 1980, when Known Fact won the 2,000 Guineas after first-past-the-post Nureyev was disqualified for interference.<ref name=sl/>
