The station is located on Joyce Street at Vanness Avenue, in the Renfrew–Collingwood neighbourhood of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
==History== The station was designed by the Austrian architecture firm Architektengruppe U-Bahn<ref>{{cite web |last=Pabillano |first=Jhenifer |url=https://buzzer.translink.ca/2011/02/1982-skytrain-station-concept-drawings/ |title=1982 SkyTrain station concept drawings! |work=The Buzzer Blog |publisher=TransLink |date=February 21, 2011 |access-date=May 4, 2019 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190331220050/https://buzzer.translink.ca/2011/02/1982-skytrain-station-concept-drawings/ |archive-date=March 31, 2019 |url-status=live}}</ref><ref>{{cite web |title=U-Bahn Vancouver |url=http://www.agu.at/vancouver.html |publisher=Architektengruppe U-Bahn |access-date=May 4, 2019 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160428221856/http://www.agu.at/vancouver.html |archive-date=April 28, 2016 |url-status=dead }}</ref> and opened in 1985 as "Joyce station" on the original Expo Line. It replaced Joyce Loop, located {{Convert|600|m}} south at the intersection of Joyce Street and Kingsway, as the main transfer point for local transit services in the area. Trolley wires were extended to the station in early 1986 to bring trolley buses to the station's bus loop.<ref>{{citation |title=The Buzzer |volume=71 |issue=5 |date=February 28, 1986 |publisher=BC Transit |url=http://www.translink.ca/~/media/Documents/rider_guide/Buzzer%20Vault/1980s/1986/VOL%2071_NO%205_FEBRUARY%2028%201986.ashx}}</ref>
The station is located on the former right-of-way once used by the British Columbia Electric Railway's Central Park Line; this line ran from just west of Nanaimo station to where New Westminster station is located.
Formerly an industrial area, the immediate vicinity of this station has since been redeveloped as Collingwood Village, a denser community of high-rise condominiums. The "Collingwood" portion of the name was added in 2001 in an attempt to reflect the positive impact of SkyTrain on the surrounding community.
As part of Expo Line upgrades, renovations on the station began in early 2016.<ref name="jc-upgrades">{{cite web |url=https://www.translink.ca/en/Plans-and-Projects/Station-and-Exchange-Improvements/Expo-Line-Upgrades/Joyce-Collingwood-Station-Upgrades.aspx |publisher=TransLink |title=Joyce-Collingwood Station Upgrades |access-date=July 16, 2018 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20181113090832/https://www.translink.ca/en/Plans-and-Projects/Station-and-Exchange-Improvements/Expo-Line-Upgrades/Joyce-Collingwood-Station-Upgrades.aspx |archive-date=November 13, 2018 |url-status=dead}}</ref> Phase one of the project was completed on October 6, 2017; it included a replacement of the existing elevator, the installation of two new escalators at the east end of the platform to replace the original single one, and the improvement of the station design and integration with the surrounding community.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://buzzer.translink.ca/2017/10/new-joyce-collingwood-east-stationhouse-is-now-open/ |title=New Joyce–Collingwood east stationhouse is now open! |work=The Buzzer Blog |publisher=TransLink |date=October 6, 2017 |access-date=October 14, 2017 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20171014133830/http://buzzer.translink.ca/2017/10/new-joyce-collingwood-east-stationhouse-is-now-open/ |archive-date=October 14, 2017}}</ref> Phase two renovations began in early 2018 and were completed on June 15, 2019.<ref name="jc-upgrades" /><ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.straight.com/news/1255071/joyce-collingwood-station-makeover-looks-pretty-spiffy |title=Joyce–Collingwood Station makeover looks pretty spiffy |first=Charlie |last=Smith |work=The Georgia Straight |date=June 14, 2019 |access-date=June 15, 2019 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20190615125500/https://www.straight.com/news/1255071/joyce-collingwood-station-makeover-looks-pretty-spiffy |archive-date=June 15, 2019 |url-status=live}}</ref>
