==Biography== Grice was born in Selly Oak, fourth son of Richard Grice, a Selly Oak merchant. He studied at Aston University 1861–66 and the just-opened Wesley College, Melbourne (where he was the first boy to matriculate and qualify for the University of Melbourne<ref name=ADB>{{cite book |chapter-url=https://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/grice-sir-john-6483 |title=Grice, Sir John (1850–1935) |access-date=28 December 2008|author=Tyers, Judith|chapter=Sir John Grice (1850–1935) |work=Australian Dictionary of Biography, Volume 9 |publisher=MUP |year=1983 |pages=105–106}}</ref>). Grice graduated LL.B. in 1871, and BA in 1872.
