He also mentored Abdusalam Abubakar to a First in Mathematics at the European Union Contest for Young Scientists in 2007.
In 2009 he mentored his student Andrei Triffio to winning the Intel Student Award in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics<ref name="Intel">{{cite web|url=http://newsroom.intel.com/community/en_ie/blog/2009/01/22/synge-street-student-scoops-top-intel-prize-at-yste|title=Intel Newsroom Ireland -|website=Intel Newsroom Ireland}}</ref> at the Young Scientists Exhibition.
