==Early life and career== Hackett was brought up and educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol.<ref name="ES Acharya">{{cite news|last1=Acharya|first1=Dipal|title=Jeremy Hackett's urbane retreat in Stockwell|url=https://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/esmagazine/jeremy-hacketts-urbane-retreat-in-stockwell-8884565.html|accessdate=13 September 2014|publisher=Evening Standard|date=18 October 2013}}</ref> Having left school at 17 he started full-time work in a local men’s fashion shop, moving to London at the age of 19.<ref name="ES Acharya"/> He worked in the King's Road before accepting a position as a salesman at a tailor's shop on Savile Row owned by menswear pioneer and supplier of clothing to rock stars and celebrities John Michael Ingram.<ref name=Guardian>{{cite news|last1=Horwell|first1=Veronica|title=John Michael Ingram obituary|url=https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2014/jul/03/john-michael-ingram|accessdate=7 July 2014|work=The Guardian|date=3 July 2014}}</ref> As a sideline, Hackett bought and sold second hand clothes purchased from the London street markets and, through this, met up with Ashley Lloyd-Jennings, who shared similar tastes in fashion. ==Style guidance== The Hackett brand grew quickly and Jeremy Hackett has also become well known as an authority on men's fashion particularly in classic style. In 2007, his book ''Mr Classic'' – an anecdotal critique of men’s style – was released.<ref>{{cite web|last1=Lemos|first1=Jain|title=Book Review: Mr Classic by Jeremy Hackett and Garda Tang|url=http://www.abouttheimage.com/3666/photography_book_review_mr_classic_by_jeremy_hackett_and_garda_tang|publisher=About the Image|accessdate=19 January 2016|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20100219192530/http://www.abouttheimage.com/3666/photography_book_review_mr_classic_by_jeremy_hackett_and_garda_tang|archivedate=19 February 2010}}</ref>
