== Early life == Innes was educated at Ashdown House<ref>Ashdown House, East Sussex</ref> preparatory boarding school in East Sussex, Horris Hill<ref>Horris Hill School</ref> preparatory school in Berkshire and was subsequently awarded a Foundation Scholarship to Charterhouse,<ref>List of Old Carthusians</ref> the elite independent boarding school in Godalming, Surrey.
