On May 5, 2014, Dunning allowed runners to score on two consecutive wild pitches in a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, his only appearance of the year. Dunning made 19 appearances (four starts) for Long Island in 2018, but struggled to a 1-3 record and 7.96 ERA with 19 strikeouts across {{fraction|31|2|3}} innings of work. Dunning announced his retirement on July 12, 2018.
