'''''Jaborosa''''' is a genus of flowering plants in the family Solanaceae, the nightshades. There are about 23 species,<ref name=tetta>{{cite journal |last1=Tettamanzi |first1=M. ==Description== Most ''Jaborosa'' are rhizomatous perennial herbs except ''J. bergii'' and ''J. sativa'', which are annual or biennial.<ref name=chia/>

==Ecology== ''Jaborosa rotacea'' is pollinated by flies, and ''J. runcinata'' is pollinated by moths.<ref name=chia/> Sphingid moths feed on the nectar of ''J. integrifolia''.<ref name=vesp/>

==Chemistry== Like plants in several other genera of the Solanaceae, many ''Jaborosa'' species contain steroid-derived compounds called withanolides.<ref name=nico>{{cite journal |last1=Nicotra |first1=Viviana E. |last2=Ramacciotti |first2=Natalia S. |last3=Gil |first3=Roberto R. |last4=Oberti |first4=Juan C. |last5=Feresin |first5=Gabriela E. |last6=Guerrero |first6=Cecilia A. |last7=Baggio |first7=Ricardo F. |last8=Garland |first8=M. Some withanolides are phytotoxic, having effects on other plants such as inhibiting germination and radicle growth.<ref name=nico/> Some have antifeedant effects, deterring insects such as mealworms (''Tenebrio molitor''),<ref name=bon/> the Mediterranean fruit fly (''Ceratitis capitata''),<ref name=tetta/> and the African cotton leafworm (''Spodoptera littoralis'')<ref name=vac>{{cite journal |last1=Vaccarini |first1=Clarisa |last2=Bonetto |first2=Gloria |title=Antifeedant Activity Evaluation of Withanolides from ''Jaborosa integrifolia'' |journal=Molecules |date=2000 |volume=5 |issue=12 |pages=422–423 |doi=10.3390/50300422|doi-access=free}}</ref> from consuming the plant.
