{{Short description|Informal grouping of countries}} {{Use dmy dates|date=April 2022}} The '''JUSCANZ Group''' is an informal, information-sharing coalition of like-minded countries at the United Nations Human Rights Council and other United Nations bodies, such as the Second, Third Committees<ref name="groups of member states">{{cite web |url=https://www.un.org/en/model-united-nations/groups-member-states |title=Groups of Member States |author=<!--Not stated--> |date=n.d. |website= |publisher=United Nations |access-date=2024-10-26 }}</ref><ref name="MOFA"/> and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD).<ref name="Statement">{{cite web |url=https://unctad.org/system/files/non-official-document/u15-gd-03-jz_en.pdf |title=Australia on behalf of the JUSCANNZ Group |author=<!--Not stated--> |date=October 2021 |website=unctad.org |publisher=UNCTAD |pages= |quote=I am very pleased to make this statement on behalf of the JUSCANNZ group – comprising Japan, the United States of America, Canada, Norway, New Zealand, Australia, Israel, Turkey, Switzerland and our newest member, the Republic of Korea.| access-date=2024-10-28}}</ref> In the United Nations Regional Grouping system, it is considered as a subsection of the Western European and Others Group (WEOG), as most of its members are members of that Group. Its aim is to counterbalance the sway of the European Union bloc in WEOG matters.

The name of the group is derived from the acronym of its founding members Japan, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.politic-ed.com/2020/03/30/what-is-juscanz-will-it-happen/|title=What is JUSCANZ - Will it ever happen?|last=Booten|first=Matthew|date=2020-03-30|website=Politic-Ed|language=en-US|access-date=2020-04-27}}</ref>

== Role == The Group's role is mainly to act as a tool for information-sharing at the United Nations. Unlike the United Nations Regional Groups, JUSCANZ is not a policy-coordination mechanism.{{Citation needed|date=June 2023}}

Members of the Group are not expected to reach consensus positions on issues. Rather, at JUSCANZ meetings, members meet to share information on the status of resolutions and to flag potential problems or issues for other delegations.{{Citation needed|date=June 2023}}
