Born in Milan, Terzoli started his career as a playwright in the early 1950s, collaborating first with Carlo Silva and later with Renzo Puntoni a number of musical comedies for popular comedians of the time such as Walter Chiari, Sorelle Nava, and the couple Sandra Mondaini and Raimondo Vianello.<ref name=teatro>{{cite book|author1=Felice Cappa |author2=Piero Gelli |author3=Marco Mattarozzi |title=Dizionario dello spettacolo del '900|year=1998 |publisher=Baldini & Castoldi, 1998|isbn=8880892959}}</ref><ref name=bio>{{cite news|last1=Maurizio Porro|title=Addio a Terzoli Firmò con Vaime trent' anni di tv|url=http://archiviostorico.corriere.it/2008/maggio/16/Addio_Terzoli_Firmo_con_Vaime_co_9_080516023.shtml|accessdate=14 July 2015|work=Corriere della Sera|date=16 May 2008}}</ref> In the 1960s he wrote a number of stage comedies together with Marcello Marchesi.<ref name="teatro"/> In 1971 he started a proficuous collaboration with the writer Enrico Vaime; their debut novel, ''Amore significa'', was a bestseller and got over thirty editions.<ref name="teatro"/> From 1977, the couple also wrote a series of musicals and comedy plays for Garinei & Giovannini.<ref name="teatro"/><ref name="bio"/>
