Ikelenge District is located north of Mwinilunga and contains the Kalene Hills together with the source of the Zambezi River and the Zengamina Hydroelectric Power Plant within its small area. The Zengamina Plant exists primarily because Zambia's national electricity grid does not reach the region.<ref>{{Cite web|title=|url=https://www.znbc.co.zm/news/ikelenge-dc-calls-for-investments/|access-date=2022-08-06|archive-date=2022-08-06|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220806204954/https://www.znbc.co.zm/news/ikelenge-dc-calls-for-investments/|url-status=dead}}</ref><ref>{{Cite web |title=Zengamina Hydro Project {{!}} North West Zambia Development Trust |url=http://www.nwzdt.org/?page_id=22 |access-date=2022-08-06 |language=en-US |archive-date=2022-04-23 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20220423080555/http://www.nwzdt.org/?page_id=22 |url-status=dead }}</ref>
