Ignatius Kofi Poku-Adusei is a Ghanaian politician.[1][2] He was the Member of Parliament representing Bekwai constituency of the Ashanti Region of Ghana in the 3rd and 4th Parliaments of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.[1][2] He is a member of the New Patriotic Party.[1][2]
Early life and education
Poku-Adusei was born on 25 October 1963.[3] He studied at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in social sciences.[3] He also attended the University of Ghana (UG), where he obtained a master's degree in business administration.[3]

Poku-Adusei is a teacher and administrator by profession.[3]
Political career
Poku-Adusei is a member of the New Patriotic Party.[1][2] He entered parliament in January 2001 after winning the December 2000 general election, and was re-elected in the December 2004 general election.[1][2][4] He represented the Bekwai constituency in the third and fourth Parliaments of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.[1][2]
Elections
In the year 2000, Poku-Adusei won the general election as the member of parliament for the Bekwai constituency of the Ashanti Region of Ghana.[4][5] He won on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.[4][5] His constituency was one of the 31 parliamentary seats out of 33 won by the New Patriotic Party in that election in the Ashanti Region.[6] The New Patriotic Party won a total of 100 parliamentary seats out of 200.[7] He was elected with 30,811 votes out of 36,062 total valid votes cast.[4] This was reported as 85.7% of the total valid votes cast.[4][5] He was elected over Michael O.K. Boakye of the National Democratic Congress, Stephen A. Kwarteng of the People's National Convention, Emmanuel K. Adade of the National Reformed Party and Michael O.K. Annan of the Convention People's Party.[4][5] They won 4,260, 340, 333 and 193 votes respectively out of the total valid votes cast.[4][5] These were equivalent to 11.9%, 0.9%, 0.9% and 0.5% respectively of the total valid votes cast.[4][5]
Poku-Adusei was re-elected as the member of parliament for the Bekwai constituency of the Ashanti Region of Ghana in the 2004 Ghanaian general election.[1][2] He won on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party.[1][2] His constituency was one of the 36 parliamentary seats out of 39 won by the New Patriotic Party in that election in the Ashanti Region.[8] The New Patriotic Party won a majority of 128 parliamentary seats out of 230.[9] He was elected with 34,830 votes out of 43,896 total valid votes cast.[1][2] This was equivalent to 79.3% of the total valid votes cast.[1][2] He was elected over Janet Adarkwah of the People's National Convention, Jonas Owusu-Boateng of the National Democratic Congress, Grace Abena Nketia of the Convention People's Party and Beatrice Kusi-Appiah, an independent candidate.[1][2] They obtained 870, 3,739, 241 and 4,216 votes respectively.[1][2] These were equivalent to 2.0%, 8.5%, 0.5% and 9.6% respectively of the total valid votes cast.[1][2]
