His research and writing is focused primarily in the fields of psychiatric and mental health nursing, and psychological treatments for people with mental health difficulties. Norman is Emeritus Professor of Mental Health in the Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King's College London. He is a former Executive Dean of Faculty and Assistant Principal (Academic Performance) at King's. ==Biography== Ian Norman was born in Devon and attended Exeter School. He holds a BA degree in the social sciences from the University of Keele, an MSc degree in education from Edinburgh University and a PhD degree from London University. He was appointed as a Lecturer in Psychiatric Nursing in the Department of Nursing Studies, King’s College London, in 1988, was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1994 and to Professor of Mental Health in 1997. He was appointed Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Nursing Studies in 2005.
