==Controversy and response== Yee has received criticism for his belief that there is no proof that Muslim terrorists were responsible for the September 11 attacks on the United States and for implying that Jews could instead be responsible.
In a talk on Peace TV he stated, "What happened in 9/11, nobody really knows", the American government can only "suspect that the Muslims are involved" and "we cannot act on a suspicious statement." He then said that "A group of Jews was so happy in America, they were having a party when they heard that the Twin Towers had been burned."<ref>{{cite news|url=http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2015/03/30/jews-were-behind-911-attack-says-msian-preacher/|title=Jews were behind 9/11 attack, implies Malaysian preacher|date=30 March 2015|work=Free Malaysia Today|accessdate=20 May 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150602031313/http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/nation/2015/03/30/jews-were-behind-911-attack-says-msian-preacher/|archive-date=2 June 2015|url-status=dead}}</ref><ref> {{cite news|url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrOfbTeve1Q|title=Hussein Ye about 9/11|author=Hussein Yee|date=13 December 2007|work=Memri TV|accessdate=20 May 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20160123152504/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrOfbTeve1Q|archive-date=2016-01-23|url-status=live}} </ref>
Hussain Yee later responded to the accusations and denied ever saying that "Jews were behind 9/11 attack", and accused The Australian newspaper of "inept journalism". He also stated that his mission is to "promote peace and wellbeing [sic] for all people, regardless of race and religion".<ref name=":2"> {{cite news|last1=Yee|first1=Hussain|title=Skewed reporting incites hatred of Islam: An Islamic scholar exercises his right of reply to an FMT article|url=http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/highlight/2015/04/04/skewed-reporting-incites-hatred-of-islam/|accessdate=31 October 2015|agency=Free Malaysia Today|publisher=Free Malaysia Today|date=4 April 2015|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20150928231645/http://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/highlight/2015/04/04/skewed-reporting-incites-hatred-of-islam/|archive-date=2015-09-28|url-status=live}} </ref>
During a 2006 lecture broadcast on Peace TV<ref>{{cite web | title=Muslim Cleric Sheik Hussein Ye on Judaism and Christianity | website=YouTube | date=13 December 2007 | url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXcVkBYo5SI }}</ref>, Yee also stated that the Jews have strayed from Allah's commandments, and like doing things that are "very extreme," and that the most extremist nation are the Jews. He went on to explain that since Jews break their promises to Allah, they cannot be expected to respect the United Nations or to be dependable: "If they want to kill, they kill because they believe that they are the chosen people...and blood that is not Jewish is like an animal." He said this is the reason that they kill Palestinians every day.
In the same lecture, Yee said that Christians "always play around with the world."
