== Biography == Huang was born in British Hong Kong, on 21 September 1925, while his ancestral home is in Xinhui County (now Xinhui, Jiangmen), Guangdong.<ref name="ab">{{cite news |author1=She Zheng ({{lang|zh|佘峥}}) |url=https://news.qq.com/rain/a/20250701A02BU300 |script-title=zh:厦门大学发布讣告:黄本立院士逝世!他的一生只为国家所需 |work=qq.com |date=2025-07-01 |access-date=2025-07-04 |language=zh}}</ref> In 1945, he was accepted to the Lingnan University,where he majored in the Physics Department.<ref name="ab"/>

After University in 1950, Huang was assigned to the Changchun Northeast Science Research Institute (now Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences), where he successively worked as technician in 1950, assistant researcher in 1956, deputy researcher in 1978, and researcher in 1982.<ref name="ab"/> In 1986, he was recruited as a professor at Xiamen University.<ref name="ab"/>
