==Etymology== The genus name is a combination of {{zh|t=|p=hǒu|s=犼|labels=no}} (from the ancient mythical creature Golden-Haired Hou) and the common ending for wolf spider genera "-cosa". The species is named after Mr Wenqi Zhao ({{zh|t=|p=Zhào Wénqí|s=赵文琪|labels=no}}), who collected it.<ref name="wang2025" />

The common names in Chinese are {{zh|t=|p=hǒuzhūshǔ|s=犼蛛属|labels=no}} for the genus, and {{zh|t=|p=zhàoshì lángzhū|s=赵氏犼蛛|labels=no}}.<ref name="wang2025" />
