Wujec was born in Podlesie, Biłgoraj County. As a child, he was interned at Majdanek concentration camp. He graduated from Warsaw University with a degree in Physics and went on to study electron technology as a postgraduate in 1970.<ref name=Poland/> Wujec also married his wife, physics teacher and dissident Ludwika Wujec (nee Okrent) in 1970 as well.<ref name=pn>{{cite news |first= |last=|title=Nie żyje Ludwika Wujec. A physicist by profession,<ref name="Szporer2012">{{cite book|author=Michael Szporer|title=Solidarity: The Great Workers Strike of 1980|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=ke0MMyghGr8C&pg=PA229|year=2012|publisher=Lexington Books|isbn=978-0-7391-7487-6|pages=229}}</ref> Wujec was an activist in the Solidarity movement of the 1980s.<ref name="Wejnert2014">{{cite book|author=Barbara Wejnert|title=Diffusion of Democracy: The Past and Future of Global Democracy|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=X09kAgAAQBAJ&pg=PA128|date=9 January 2014|publisher=Cambridge University Press|isbn=978-1-107-04711-2|pages=128}}</ref> In 1984, he was imprisoned at Białołęka for his political activities.<ref name="Szporer2012"/>

Wujec was Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in the government of Jerzy Buzek in 1999-2000. He died at the age of 79 on 15 August 2020 after a long illness.
