'''Henry Liebmann''' (December 6, 1836 – March 27, 1915) was a German-born American brewer and president of S. Liebmann Brewery (later Rheingold Breweries) in Brooklyn, New York. The brewery's main brand, ''Rheingold Extra Dry'', was one of the most popular beer brands in New York City in the 1940s to 1960s.
==Biography== Heinrich Liebmann was born to a Jewish family in Schmiedelfeld in 1836, the son of Dara (née Selz) and Samuel Liebmann.<ref name=Rolf>{{cite book|url=https://archive.org/stream/rolfhofmannf001#page/n27/mode/2up|first=Rolf|last=Hoffmann|title=Jewish Genealogy in Southern German Research Fragmants - Leibmann family}}</ref> His father was, at the time, the owner of the estate Schloss Schmiedelfeld.<ref name=Rolf /> In 1840, the family moved to Ludwigsburg and ran the inn "Zum Stern" and its attached brewery; and where Henry attended secondary school.<ref name=Rolf /> His father determined to immigrate to the United States for political reasons and sent his son, Joseph, in 1850 in advance to procure a home.<ref name=Rolf /> In 1854, the remainder of the family immigrated, settling in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The family first leased and operated the old Maasche Brewery and later, pooling their resources, built a new brewery in Bushwick named the S. Liebmann Brewery.<ref name=Rolf />
After the death of his father in 1872, the three sons took over the management of the brewery and incorporated it as S. Liebmann's Sons Brewing Company.<ref name=Rolf /> The Liebmann brothers alternated with each other as chief executive officer each year. Henry was responsible for brewing; Joseph for financial matters; and Charles for management and operations.<ref name=Rolf /> In 1903, the Liebmann brothers retired and handed over the management of the company to six of their sons.<ref name=Rolf />
Liebmann died in 1915 in New York City.<ref name=Rolf />
