The '''Haugesund Region''' ({{langx|no|Haugesundregionen}}) is a geographically distinct [[Metropolitan regions of Norway|city region]] in Norway, consisting of the five municipalities of [[Haugesund Municipality|Haugesund]], [[Karmøy Municipality|Karmøy]], [[Tysvær Municipality|Tysvær]], [[Sveio Municipality|Sveio]], and [[Bokn Municipality|Bokn]]. As of 1 January 2026, the region has a total population of 101,076.<ref>{{Cite web |date=25 February 2026 |title=07459: Befolkning, etter region, statistikkvariabel og år |url=https://www.ssb.no/statbank/table/07459/ |access-date=16 March 2026 |publisher=[[Statistics Norway]] |language=nb}}</ref>

The Haugesund Region is one of Norway's officially defined statistical [[metropolitan area]]s and is classified as a city region (''byregion''). The classification originates from the Norwegian government's white paper on large cities (''Storbymeldingen''), prepared by the [[Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development]] in 2002–2003 to establish a coherent national policy for the development of metropolitan areas.<ref>{{Cite web |date=9 May 2003 |title=Innledning: Storbymeldingens mål og perspektiver |url=https://www.regjeringen.no/no/dokumenter/stmeld-nr-31-2002-2003-/id402979 |access-date=16 October 2008 |publisher=[[Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development]] |language=nb}}</ref> The report was presented to the Storting on 12 March 2003 by then [[Minister of Local Government and Regional Development]], [[Erna Solberg]].<ref>{{Cite web |date=12 March 2008 |title=Storbymelding uten løfter om øremerkede millioner |url=http://www.aftenposten.no/nyheter/oslo/article543055.ece |access-date=16 October 2008 |publisher=[[Aftenposten]] |language=nb}}</ref> In this framework, Norway was divided into one metropolitan region, six greater city regions (''storbyregioner''), and ten city regions (''byregioner''). Each region is defined by a central urban municipality and a selection of surrounding municipalities.<ref>{{Cite web |date=9 May 2003 |title=Storbymeldingen |url=https://www.regjeringen.no/no/dokumenter/stmeld-nr-31-2002-2003-/id402979/?ch=10 |access-date=18 April 2020 |publisher=[[Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development]] |language=nb |via=[[Council of State (Norway)|Council of State]]}}</ref>
