'''Harrison Bertrand Prosper''' is a Dominican-born British-American particle physicist and the Kirby W. Kemper Endowed Professor of Physics at Florida State University (FSU). He is known for his contributions to experimental particle physics, particularly through his work with the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Prosper is also recognised for advancing the use of Bayesian statistical methods in high-energy physics and for promoting diversity in the sciences.<ref name="FSU">{{Cite web |title=Harrison B. == Early life and education == Prosper was born in Soufrière, Dominica and later moved to the United Kingdom. He earned his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Manchester, where he specialised in experimental particle physics.<ref name="IAS Profile" />

== Career == After completing his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Manchester, Prosper held research positions in the UK and the US before joining FSU in 1993.<ref name="FSU" /> At FSU, he became involved in the CMS experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider (LHC), contributing to searches for supersymmetry, dark matter, and precision studies of the Higgs boson.<ref name="FSU Breakthrough Prize">{{Cite web |last=Devin Bittner |date=May 28, 2025 |title=FSU researchers share in Breakthrough Prize in Physics for work at CERN |url=https://news.fsu.edu/news/science-technology/2025/05/28/fsu-researchers-share-in-breakthrough-prize-in-physics-for-work-at-cern/ |access-date=August 25, 2025 |publisher=Florida State University}}</ref> He has also advanced the use of Bayesian inference and modern machine learning techniques in high-energy physics analysis. Prosper's research spans particle collisions, rare event detection, and advanced statistical methods, and he has co-authored over 1,000 publications as part of CMS. <ref>{{Cite journal |last=Prosper |first=Harrison B. |date=1 March 1988 |title=Small-signal analysis in high-energy physics: A Bayesian approach |journal=Physical Review D |volume=37 |issue=5 |pages=1153–1158 |bibcode=1988PhRvD..37.1153P |doi=10.1103/PhysRevD.37.1153 |pmid=9958793}}</ref> <ref>{{Cite web |title=Harrison B. == Advocacy == Prosper is active in promoting diversity and equity in science, having spoken at conferences about the need to support underrepresented minorities in physics. He has also mentored students from diverse backgrounds and contributed to outreach programmes in the United States and the Caribbean, including serving as a recurring mentor in the Google Summer of Code programme.<ref>{{Cite web |date=2024 |title=Google Summer of Code 2024 Mentors |url=https://humanai.foundation/gsoc/2024/mentors.html |access-date=25 August 2025 |website=Human AI Foundation}}</ref> <ref>{{Cite web |date=26 March 2025 |title=Horizons Speaker Series with Dr. Harrison Prosper (Artificial Intelligence in Physics: Then, Now, and Tomorrow) |url=https://tallysci.org/horizons-presents-dr-harrison-prosper/ |access-date=25 August 2025 |website=Tallahassee Scientific Society}}</ref><ref name="IAS Profile" />
