It is an [[A-type main sequence star]] with a [[stellar classification]] of A4V.<ref name="Gontcharov"/> At an [[apparent magnitude]] of 5.80,<ref name="Gontcharov"/> it is visible to the naked eye under very dark skies.

HD 130917 is over twice as [[solar mass|massive as the Sun]] and hotter at {{val|fmt=commas|8610|ul=K}}.<ref name=tic/> At an age of 454 million years,<ref name=dr3/> it is still on the [[main sequence]]<ref name=zorec2012/> but has expanded somewhat to three times the [[radius of the Sun]] and is now 43 times more [[solar luminosity|luminous than the Sun]].<ref name=tic/>
